Sylvester Stallone. Early Life and Education

Sylvester Stallone was born in the Hell’s Kitchen area of New York City. A forceps accident during his birth damaged a facial nerve, resulting in a droopy left eyelid and a speech impediment.

Stallone spent much of his infancy in boarding care before rejoining his family.

Stallone's family moved to the Washington, D.C. area where his father started a beauty parlor chain. Stallone lived in Maryland for several years.

Stallone's parents divorced, and he initially stayed with his father. Later, at age 15, he joined his remarried mother in Philadelphia.

Stallone struggled emotionally and academically, leading to expulsions from several schools. He eventually attended a private school for troubled teenagers.

Stallone developed an interest in acting while attending the American College of Switzerland and later studied at the University of Miami, though he did not graduate.
