Sinéad O'Connor. Music Career Beginnings

While singing with the pub-rock band Ton Ton Macoute, O'Connor attracted the attention of the London-based record label Ensign Records and was asked to submit a demo tape.

O'Connor released her debut studio album, The Lion and the Cobra, which achieved international chart success and critical praise.

The song 'Mandinka' from her debut album became her first European hit and set the stage for her signature sound.
